The ACT Palestinian Conflict Resolution Center Launches Level 3 of the Specialized Training Program in FIDIC Engineering Contracts
As part of its ongoing efforts to develop professional expertise and strengthen legal and technical capacities in the Gaza Strip, the ACT Palestinian Conflict Resolution Center has launched Level 3 of its specialized training program in arbitration and engineering dispute resolution under the contracts of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). The program is conducted via Zoom video conferencing with the participation of over 35 engineers, contractors, and lawyers.
The launch of this level comes as a continuation of previous training phases, advancing participants to a more sophisticated understanding of engineering dispute resolution mechanisms, contractual claims analysis, and handling legal and technical issues that may arise during the execution of construction projects.
Level 3 focuses on deepening practical knowledge of arbitration mechanisms under FIDIC contracts. It covers arbitration procedures and stages, the jurisdiction of arbitral tribunals, the preparation of claims and defenses, and the evaluation of technical and contractual evidence. Additionally, it addresses contractual liability, the consequences of breaches of obligation, and assessment mechanisms for compensation and losses arising from engineering disputes.
The training also addresses the practical aspects of managing dispute resolution proceedings, the relationship between contractual claims and arbitration, building legal and technical arguments, and handling engineering reports and expert testimony. This enables participants to bridge engineering and legal domains when resolving disputes and making sound, well-founded professional decisions.
The broad participation of over 35 engineers, contractors, and lawyers underscores the importance of building bridges of cooperation and knowledge exchange among professionals across the engineering, legal, and construction sectors, enhancing their ability to handle contract- and project-related disputes according to specialized professional standards.
This program carries particular significance given the challenges facing the Gaza Strip and the growing needs associated with reconstruction efforts. There is a pressing requirement for qualified personnel equipped with the necessary knowledge to manage engineering contracts, safeguard contractual rights, and handle claims and disputes accompanying project execution.
By advancing to Level 3, ACT continues to invest in developing specialized Palestinian expertise in engineering arbitration and enhancing the integration between legal and technical knowledge—contributing to more efficient and effective practices in contract management and dispute resolution.
