The thirteenth dialogue session of the Arbitration Forum, entitled “Practical Applications of the Reasons for the Invalidation of an Arbitration Decision”.
The ACT Organization for Conflict Resolution held the thirteenth dialogue session of the Arbitration Forum under the title “Practical Applications of the Reasons for the Invalidation of an Arbitration Decision” on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 via the Zoom application, based on our belief in the importance of shedding light on issues related to arbitration as an alternative means of resolving conflicts in Jerusalem and all Arab countries.
For two hours, the ACT Organization hosted Professor Al-Issawi Badr, who holds a master’s degree in commercial arbitration law, a fellow and member of the Academic Council of the American Institute for Commercial Arbitration, a member of the Arab Federation for Arbitration in Economic and Investment Disputes, and a member of the Council of the General Syndicate of Commercial Arbitration Counselors, in a dialogue session prepared by lawyer Heba Thouqan, who is Arbitrator in civil and commercial contract disputes from Palestine. In the presence of more than one hundred participants and participation from various Arab countries.
Many topics were discussed in that dialogue session, including an explanation of what an arbitration award is, the distinction between a final award, a temporary award, a final award, and many other provisions. In addition to identifying the formal and substantive conditions that must be met for the arbitration award to be valid, and then addressing the reasons for the invalidity of the arbitration award, by presenting many judicial and practical applications related to those reasons mentioned in most legislation exclusively.
A large number of participants interacted with the scientific material presented, which raised many important topics and questions about several legal points through which opinions and knowledge were exchanged, which enriched this dialogue session.
We note that the ACT Organization for Conflict Resolution in Jerusalem works to organize periodic dialogue sessions on arbitration topics through the Arbitration Forum, out of its belief in the importance of developing and strengthening the culture of resorting to arbitration among members of society.
