Voices for Harmony
Voices for Harmony is a regional initiative that aims to counter religious hate speech in the Arab region by promoting dialogue, trust-building, and collective action among community actors and civil society organizations. The project responds to the growing impact of religiously motivated hate speech on social cohesion and peaceful coexistence, and seeks to address it through inclusive, participatory approaches.
The project creates safe spaces for community activists, civil society representatives, and key stakeholders to engage in open dialogue on the root causes, manifestations, and consequences of religious hate speech. Through a series of local and regional workshops, participants exchange experiences, analyze diverse local contexts, and collaboratively explore practical ways to reduce hate speech and its harmful effects on communities.
Building on these dialogues, the project supports the development of practical, context-sensitive strategies aimed at strengthening reconciliation, social harmony, and peaceful coexistence among different religious and social groups. These strategies are designed to be applicable at the community and institutional levels, contributing to sustainable and long-term impact.
The project is implemented in Libya, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, with the support of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID), and reflects a regional vision that views inclusive dialogue and community cooperation as essential tools for countering hate speech and fostering social cohesion.
