Time to ADR in EJ

"Time to ADR in EJ" is a project aimed at promoting the use of alternative means of dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration, so as to avoid recourse to Israeli courts and the tribal system in east Jerusalem. This project is being implemented in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Justice and some relevant local, regional and international institutions.

Project Description

"Time to ADR in EJ" is a project aimed at promoting the use of alternative means of dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration, so as to avoid recourse to Israeli courts and the tribal system in east Jerusalem. This project is being implemented in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Justice and some relevant local, regional and international institutions.

The project consists of three main components:

Component 1: Building specialized and trained teams of mediators and arbitrators in various fields and integrating them into the Palestinian legal system.

Component 2: Raising awareness about alternative means of dispute resolution during meetings, workshops, conferences and media campaigns. In addition to expanding the network of local, regional and international professional relations of project participants.

Component 3: Research and study on alternative means of dispute resolution in East Jerusalem. This includes studying the implementation of the Arbitration Act in Jerusalem. The project also aims to produce a magazine related to arbitration.

Project Goals

Avoid resorting to the tribal system and Israeli courts and raise awareness about arbitration and mediation, as one of the main alternative means of dispute resolution.
Avoid applying racist laws such as absentee property law.
Take advantage of the flexibility of active mediation systems in Occupied East Jerusalem.
Conduct an in-depth legal examination of the application of Palestinian or other foreign law to arbitrate disputes in Palestine in general and East Jerusalem in particular.
