Palestinian Mediators and Peacebuilding Network Discusses Practical Community Initiatives in Ramallah
Ramallah – June 13, 2026: ACT for Conflict Resolution held the fifth meeting of the Palestinian Mediators and Peacebuilding Network in Ramallah as part of the project “Mediation as a Tool for Peacebuilding.” The meeting brought together 17 network members to discuss ways of turning current community challenges into practical initiatives that promote dialogue, solidarity, and social cohesion across Palestine.
The meeting opened with an in-depth discussion on the situation of local communities and the most vulnerable groups, as well as the conditions in refugee camps in the northern West Bank, including educational loss, economic hardship, and security-related challenges.
The meeting also highlighted the need to protect women during periods of displacement and military incursions, while preserving community ties and social cohesion.
As part of the session, participants received training on youth engagement and community action. Topics included the difference between symbolic and meaningful participation, identifying community priorities, collecting and analysing information, understanding the local context, and building partnerships and communication channels with decision-makers.
Participants stressed the importance of creating opportunities for young people to develop community and advocacy initiatives that address local needs and strengthen their role in decision-making and peacebuilding efforts.
