ACT Holds Third Workshop to Promote Inclusive Access to Justice for People with Disabilities in Palestine
08 June 2026

As part of our project "Paths to Inclusive Justice: Strengthening Inclusive Dispute Resolution for People with Disabilities in Palestine," we held a consultation workshop in Jerusalem on Saturday 6-6-2026 with representatives of civil society organizations and organizations working in the disability sector from Jerusalem and Ramallah.

This workshop was the third in a series of consultation meetings we are organizing in different areas of Palestine. It follows two previous workshops held in Bethlehem and Nablus. Through these workshops, we aim to engage relevant organizations in the development of an inclusive and specialized mediation network that supports access to justice for people with disabilities.

During the workshop, we presented the findings of an assessment that examined the readiness and capacities of organizations to participate in the proposed network. Participants discussed key topics related to the establishment of the network, including the possible roles of member organizations, ways to ensure its sustainability, mechanisms for coordination and referrals, and the importance of involving persons with disabilities in shaping the network and its priorities.

The discussions highlighted the need for stronger cooperation among organizations, clearer procedures for handling disputes, and more opportunities to build the skills and capacities of professionals working in the disability sector. Participants also stressed the importance of developing practical and inclusive approaches that help persons with disabilities access support and resolve disputes in a safe and effective way.

As one participant noted: “Building an effective and specialized network requires strengthening knowledge and skills in dispute resolution while also deepening understanding of the rights and needs of people with disabilities. Both are necessary to create a more inclusive and fair system.”

Through this initiative, we continue our efforts to promote inclusive justice and strengthen mediation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in Palestine. Our goal is to support the creation of a more accessible, inclusive, and supportive environment for persons with disabilities and to strengthen the role of civil society organizations in advancing their access to justice.

This project is supported by the European Union and Minority Rights Group Europe (MRGE), in cooperation with Al-Multaqa Al-Madani Foundation.
