ACT Foundation Launches Consultative Dialogue on a Comprehensive Mediation Network for Persons with Disabilities in Bethlehem
ACT Conflict Resolution Organization held a consultative workshop as part of the project “Inclusive Justice Pathways: Enhancing Comprehensive Conflict Resolution for Persons with Disabilities in Palestine”, with the participation of representatives from civil society organizations serving persons with disabilities.
The workshop aimed to present and discuss the results of an institutional capacity assessment, evaluating the readiness of organizations to join a comprehensive mediation network that respects the rights and needs of persons with disabilities. It also provided a space for dialogue on mechanisms for establishing the network, the roles of participating institutions, and challenges related to accessibility, documentation, referral, and complaint management.
Participants emphasized the importance of building an effective mediation network based on knowledge of relevant legislation, partnerships with community actors, and the active involvement of persons with disabilities in designing and managing mediation mechanisms. They also stressed the need to remove institutional and societal barriers that limit access to justice for persons with disabilities.
This workshop is part of ACT’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive justice and to develop safe, alternative mechanisms for conflict resolution, thereby contributing to the protection of rights and strengthening community participation of persons with disabilities in Palestine.
It is noteworthy that the activities of the project “Inclusive Justice Pathways: Enhancing Comprehensive Conflict Resolution for Persons with Disabilities in Palestine” are implemented with the support of the European Union and the Minority Rights Group Europe (MRGE), in cooperation with the Civil Forum Organization.
