ACT Launches a New Initiative to Promote Coexistence and Social Peace in Yemen
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of dialogue and reject violence, ACT, in collaboration with the Regional Network for Reconciliation and Forgiveness in the Arab Region, held a virtual dialogue session focused on addressing religious hate speech in Yemen. The session brought together more than 20 participants representing various sectors of Yemeni society, including academics, religious leaders, civil society organizations, youth, and women engaged in peacebuilding efforts.
The workshop featured a series of interactive sessions that highlighted the manifestations and root causes of hate speech in the Yemeni context. It also provided a space for exchanging views on practical mechanisms to limit its spread. The discussions resulted in preliminary consensus on the outlines of a national action plan aimed at fostering tolerance and coexistence.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants announced the formation of a local coordination group tasked with following up on the recommendations and developing practical initiatives at the governorate level. This step reflects ACT’s and its partners’ commitment to supporting national and regional efforts to build more stable and harmonious communities.
