Launch of a Women's Mediation Unit in Al-Abidiya to Promote Dialogue and Conflict Resolution
17 April 2025

In a significant step towards fostering a culture of dialogue and mutual understanding, ACT Conflict Resolution has announced the establishment of a Women’s Mediation Unit in the town of Al-Abidiya. This initiative builds upon the recently held Basic Mediation Course and aims to introduce alternative dispute resolution methods that prioritize peaceful dialogue over conventional legal processes.

The unit consists of eight dedicated women activists who are committed to the development of their town. They advocate for innovative approaches to conflict resolution that ensure the inclusion of all parties involved, rather than imposing decisions without their consultation. This initiative comes in response to the increasing instances of violence and recurring disputes in the area. The mediation group has already begun engaging in discussions and negotiations to better understand the needs of disputing parties, ultimately working to preserve social harmony and stability.

ACT Conflict Resolution sees this initiative as a foundational step toward establishing a permanent mediation and arbitration center in the town, aimed at fostering cooperation and understanding while contributing to the development of a more cohesive and peaceful community.
