ACT Foundation for Conflict Resolution has organized a workshop aimed at drafting a policy paper regarding the future of Jerusalem, in partnership with pal Think Foundation and Al-Ataa’ Charity Society.
On Thursday, June 2, 2025, the ACT Foundation for Studies and Conflict Resolution, alongside the Al-Ataa’ Charity Society, convened a workshop aimed at formulating a policy paper titled "The Future of Jerusalem in the Context of Political and Regional Variables: A Forward-Looking Reading."
This workshop is an integral component of the initiative aimed at enhancing the role of Palestinian civil society in influencing the future of Palestine. It is being carried out by the Pal Think Foundation for Strategic Studies in collaboration with various civil society organizations across the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
Representatives from the Pal Think Foundation, ACT Conflict Resolution Foundation, and Al-Ataa’ Charity Society were present at the workshop, joined by a cohort of specialists and academics. A total of 22 individuals from various regions of Palestine took part. The workshop took place in a format that integrated physical attendance in the Gaza Strip with virtual engagement via the Zoom app from the West Bank, thereby fostering a sense of unity of the one nation in the two regions. During the gathering with the researchers tasked with drafting the policy paper, several important themes were discussed. The situation in Jerusalem is influenced by a range of general determinants, including matters of sanctity, settlement, education, and housing transformations. Additionally, there are factors that directly and indirectly impact the city, such as the decision to halt UNRWA's services, the so-called deal of the century, the annexation plan, the conflict in Gaza, regional shifts, and their repercussions on Jerusalem, along with potential future scenarios and alternatives.
The workshop successfully met its goals by equipping researchers with valuable information and insights related to the policy paper topic, while also exploring new themes that researchers could incorporate during the policy paper's preparation. The workshop featured lively engagement and constructive dialogue among the expert participants, highlighting the significance of the subject matter and the pressing necessity to develop practical recommendations and future scenarios that can be implemented effectively.
