ACT for Conflict Resolution in Jerusalem held the seventeenth dialogue session of the Arbitration Forum under the title “Arbitration in Banking Transactions” on Monday, 07/22/2024, via Zoom, based on its social responsibility and its belief in the importance of spreading the culture of resorting to arbitration in many fields.

For two hours, ACT for Conflict Resolution hosted Dr. Imad Al-Ibrahim, director of the Palestine College of Police Sciences, an academic lecturer in several faculties of law and graduate studies in Palestinian universities, a researcher, writer, and trainer in the field of law. He has many books, research, and articles published in several fields. Dr. Abdul Hanan Al-Issa from the Sultanate of Oman, who is a certified practicing arbitrator in many arbitration centers, a visiting lecturer in several universities, and a certified trainer in the field of Islamic law, arbitration and finance, and has many books and published peer-reviewed research, was also hosted in a dialogue session prepared by It was attended by Ms. Heba Thouqan, a lawyer and arbitrator in civil and commercial contract disputes from Palestine, in the presence of more than 90 participants and participants from various Arab countries.

Many topics were discussed in this session, including clarifying the concept of banking operations, knowing what disputes are related to banking operations, identifying the extent of the permissibility of arbitration in banking disputes from the development of Palestinian, Omani, and Syrian legislation, the obstacles facing arbitration in banking transactions, and the role of institutional arbitration in overcoming these obstacles were also discussed, and the impact of the arbitration agreement on banking operations, the reality of arbitration in Palestine, and practical and judicial applications on the subject were also discussed.

Many of the participants present and those working in the banking field interacted in this symposium, which raised many important topics and questions about several technical and legal points through which opinions and knowledge were exchanged, which led to the enrichment of this dialogue session.

We note that ACT for Conflict Resolution in Jerusalem works to organize periodic dialogue sessions on arbitration topics through the Arbitration Forum, out of its belief in the importance of developing and strengthening the culture of resorting to arbitration among members of Palestinian and Arab society.
