ACT for Conflict Resolution holds a dialogue session on the topic of arbitration in construction disputes.

ACT, which is based in Jerusalem held the fifteenth dialogue session of the Arbitration Forum under the title “Arbitration in Construction Disputes” on Wednesday, 06/12/2024, via Zoom.

ACT hosted, for two hours, Professor Hisham Anwar from Egypt - a project management consulting engineer - with studies in arbitration and legal translation - who specializes in resolving construction and construction disputes, in a dialogue session moderated by Professor Heba Thouqan - a lawyer and arbitrator in civil and commercial contract disputes from Palestine, in the presence of 87 participants from various Arab countries.

Many topics were discussed in this session, including learning about the concept of a construction contract and the stages of its development, knowing what disputes arise from construction contracts, and shedding light on the importance of unifying laws for construction contracts internationally and the resulting impact. Arbitration and its role in resolving construction contract disputes and the importance of establishing specialized courts to hear these disputes.

Many attending participants interacted with the questions raised during the meeting, which raised many important topics and questions about several engineering and legal points, through which opinions and knowledge were exchanged, which enriched this dialogue session.

Noting that ACT works to organize periodic dialogue sessions on arbitration topics through the Arbitration Forum, out of its belief in the importance of developing and strengthening the culture of resorting to arbitration among members of Palestinian and Arab society.
