On Monday February 26th, 2024, ACT organized the final workshop of the “Strengthening Communities to Prevent and Confront Gender-Based Violence” project, which was implemented in partnership with the Government of Canada. The workshop hosted two speakers, Rana Salfiti, who talked about the “Jusoor Amina” Center, and Hadeel Mhalwes who talked about the protection of minors.

In the presence of a variety of interested parties and stakeholders, the speakers presented harsh experiences related to violence within the family and the role, and response of social welfare offices in dealing with submitted complaints and referring cases to mediation, and the effective role of mediation as a tool to reduce levels of violence and promote dialogue and constructive communication.

In-depth and humane discussions accompanied the workshop, when presenting examples of domestic violence issues and the difficulty of realizing the reality of their existence. The most important thing that came out of the workshop is the necessity of continuing this type of program and meetings that promote dialogue and reveal the seriousness of violence and the importance of mediation in resolving family disputes.

The workshop showcased the most important results and outputs of the project in the presence of the supporting partners, the most important of which is the qualification of mediators specialized in cases of violence based on Gender and the success of mediation in settling a large number of issues and disputes.
