The ACT Foundation for Conflict Resolution holds a conference on Alternative Dispute Resolution Week in Palestine.
The ACT Foundation for Conflict Resolution held the Alternative Means of Conflict Resolution Week conference in Palestine, as part of the project to enhance the role of alternative means of conflict resolution in Jerusalem, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and with the support of the Sawasiya Programme, over a period of four continuous days starting from 12/20/2023 until 2023. /12/23.
Over the course of four days, this conference included multiple and diverse dialogue sessions on the topics of mediation, arbitration and peacebuilding, and a discussion of research papers submitted for publication in the third issue of the Mediation and Arbitration Journal at the ACT Foundation, in addition to hosting many researchers and experts specialized in the fields of mediation, arbitration and peacebuilding from Palestine. And various Arab countries and countries of the world.
The Director General of Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Ministry of Justice, the representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ACT Conflict Resolution Association, and the head and members of its Legal Committee participated in opening the conference. The speeches emphasized the importance of alternative means of resolving disputes, the most important of which are mediation and arbitration, in addition to efforts to build and strengthen peace, especially in the city of Jerusalem.
During the conference sessions, the researchers presented a summary of their research that dealt with important topics, including: principles of mediation, how to become a mediator in the city of Jerusalem: a comprehensive guide, international mediation efforts in the Arab (Palestinian-Israeli) conflict during recent years, and the priority of the arbitration clause in model contracts over the familiar clause. In construction contracts, arbitration agreement in maritime transport disputes of goods in light of the Hamburg Rules and Moroccan law, implementation of arbitration provisions - United Arab Emirates, and arbitration in investment contracts.
The conference activities continued on its second, third and fourth days with broad Arab and foreign participation from experts, specialists and those interested in the field of alternative means of resolving conflicts by providing rich interventions that influenced the topic of discussion and were distinguished by giving free space to the speakers to speak without any restrictions.
