ACT Holds a Workshop on "Conflict Resolution in Jerusalem" at the Children's Institute of Al-Quds University in Beit Hanina

In the presence of the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of ACT, participants of “Preparing and Qualifying Young Arbitrators” project and invited individuals interested in civil peace issue in Beit Hanina, ACT for Alternative Dispute Resolutions and Studies holds a workshop on "Conflict Resolution in Jerusalem" at the Children's Institute of Al-Quds University in Beit Hanina. The workshop was managed by Advocate Waad Qannam. Social activist Hazem Gharabli and the journalist Dina Danna participated in it. In his intervention, Hazem Gharabli presented the historical role of the national forces in conflict resolution as one of the most important factors of resilience in facing the occupation and the impact of closing “House of the East” on this role. He has also reviewed the parties involved in the resolution of conflicts. Furthermore, he reviewed the nature and types of such conflicts and the mechanisms adopted by men of reform in resolving them. He also warns about those serving the occupation and the danger of the role they are in, calling for supporting initiatives based on developing the capacities and skills of young mediators and arbitrators. Dina, on the other hand, discussed the importance of arbitration and mediation as alternative means to resolve conflicts and how these means can achieve civil peace. She also highlighted the importance of enhancing women's participation as positive influencers in making change and social transformation that rejects violence, based on the principles of freedom Justice and equity. At the end of the workshop, the participants were informed with the importance of the distribution of roles to protect the society and strengthen the national immunity by focusing on educating youth groups on rejecting violence as it is threatening civil peace.
