Within the framework of the project “Qadaya 2: To enhance the understanding of the Oslo Accords current and future impact on Palestinian Jerusalemite youth”, a group of young male and female Jerusalemite youth met in a roundtable discussion with Mr. Michael Herold, Deputy Head of the German Representative Office to the Palestinian Territories, and discussed with him Germany's position on Palestine, and the dimensions of Germany's policy aimed at achieving a two-State solution on the ground.
The participants touched on several topics, such as the Oslo Agreement, but also about Germany's historic role in the Palestinian question, starting from its role as a donor to the Palestinian Authority in many areas to the mechanisms of cooperation and common interests, as well as Germany's position on the ongoing violations of the rights of the Palestinian people in general.
Mr. Herold appreciated the meeting with the Jerusalemite youth and expressed hope to have further exchanges.
Mr. Mohamed Hadieh, Director of ACT for Conflict Resolution, stressed the importance of reaching out to international and local decision-makers with the aim of presenting a clearer picture of what is happening and what can happen on the ground in the coming years, calling on the participants to lead the process of political change, and highlighting the importance of the role of youth in any future solutions.
