ACT for Conflict Resolution Launches "Enhancing the Capacity of Arbitrators in Conflict and Dispute Cases" Project
ACT for Conflict Resolution Institution launched today a new project called “Enhancing the Capacity of Arbitrators in Conflict and Dispute Cases”. The project aims to contribute to developing the capabilities of legal arbitrators, supporting the participation of women as arbitrators, developing an arbitration system compatible with conflict and dispute issues, in addition to setting specific rules of conduct for arbitrators.
The project seeks to develop and modernize arbitration services regarding issues of conflict and disputes before the Sharia courts in Jerusalem by training arbitrators on the rules and principles of arbitration, enhancing the participation of female arbitrators, conducting a research study on arbitration and the current procedures followed by the arbitrators, presenting the Med-Arb model, developing a guide for arbitration procedures, and a code of conduct for arbitrators.
The project targets Jerusalemites who hold an Israeli identity card, in addition to any individual (male or female) from the West Bank or Gaza Strip married to an Israeli identity card holder under an Israeli marriage contract.
The project is implemented by Act Institution in cooperation with the Sharia court and funded by the Canadian government.
