Ahl for promoting civil peace held an accountability session with Bethany's municipality in southeast Jerusalem on Thursday as a part of Ahl project that seeks to spread the culture of law and civil peace in the suburbs of Jerusalem
The questions of the participants came along with the needs of the citizens in the suburbs of Jerusalem in the aim of clarifying several sides of their daily lives. The presidents of municipalities answered the questions precisely and transparently. Obstacles and crisis faced by municipalities and the area were also clarified. The presidents of the three municipalities indicated the necessity of concerted efforts by all parties in order to solve the existing problems and improve municipal services through citizen duties towards the municipality and vice versa to enhance the public interest
The session touched upon the finance resources that Bethany's municipality receive, and the importance of using it properly and solving several issues that the area suffers from, including, traffic, water crisis, land settlement, shops licenses, street shortcuts, and high collection fees
The group stressed the importance of using Martyr's square in Bethany instead of closing it in the times that tourist buses don’t exist there, and the importance of using the projects that are implemented in town for serving the society and the area such as, restoration work
The president of Bethany's municipality Essam Faron welcomed Ahl group and indicated the vitality of the group's work in southeast Jerusalem in collaboration and partnership with Jerusalem suburban police and ACT conflict resolution for promoting civil peace and increasing the level of the citizen's commitment to his duties, and increasing the level of services type that the municipality provide, and stressed that he proposes help and support to the youth in particular and to every possible initiative and working jointly for the public interest
The session was attended by Bethany's municipality president Essam Faron And the head of the accountability committee, Zakaria Abu Al-Rish, and the tribunal man, Abu Alaa Adwan
