Seventh interactive session of the Arbitration Forum, entitled "The role of universities and international competitions in promoting spreading the culture of arbitration."
ACT Conflict Resolution held the Seventh Arbitration Forum Dialogue on Wednesday 21/06/2023 with the support of a Swasiyah programme and in partnership with the Ministry of Justice within the project of Time to ADR in East Jersulaem under the title: "The role of universities and international competitions in promoting the dissemination of the culture of arbitration", believing in the importance of enhancing the recourse of members of society to arbitration as an alternative means of resolving disputes.
ACT hosted, through the Zoom-Application its Arbitration Forum for one hour, consultant Khater Al-Abdallah, a legal adviser, arbitrator and practitioner and legal trainer specializing in arbitration. ACT has also hosted the Birzeit University team, which was awarded the first place in the International Commercial Arbitration Court Competition, composed of the coaches of this team, Professor Afnan Bader and Professor Haya Khalaf, Students Aya Saleh, Sama Hamayel and Sally Naasan in an interactive session prepared by the lawyer Hiba Thouqan in the presence of 29 participants and in participation from various Arab States.
This interactive session focused on the role of universities in promoting the dissemination of the culture of arbitration among students by introducing the arbitration course as a compulsory course within the Academic Plan for the Study of Law, as well as encouraging and enhancing students' abilities to participate and engage in special international competitions in arbitration. The importance of these competitions in promoting awareness of the culture of arbitration in Arab societies and its impact on the positive vision of strengthening society's trust in the importance of resorting to arbitration as an alternative means of resolving disputes was also addressed.
We note that ACT works to organize regular dialogue sessions through the Arbitration Forum to highlight many issues and related to arbitration in order to promote the use of alternative means to resolve disputes and raise awareness about the culture of arbitration, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
